gave mixed reactions about their comfort in movie theaters in response to the Colorado shootings Friday.

Ivan Aranha - Silver Spring, MD, resident

“In general, I feel safe in movie theaters. However, I will tend to sit next to the end so I have quick access to the emergency exits because of fires. I’m not really worried about shootings.”

Genea Vincent - Laurel, MD, resident

“[Metal detectors] will take a way from the experience.”

David Fridia - Washington, DC, resident

“I was definitely shocked by it. It was such a tragic thing that happened to those people. I mean it’s just crazy. Unfortunately bad things happen everywhere. I ride metro, I work downtown in DC and people die everywhere. You have to be cognizant of where you are and what you do.”

Erin Kennedy - Washington, DC, resident

“Yeah, I probably don’t think [metal detectors] are a bad idea. I think it’s horrible that we even have to do that. Do I question my own personal safety when I go in the theater. No.”
