Missing Silver Spring Woman Thought to Be in Las Vegas

Montgomery County Police told the Washington Examiner that local police in Las Vegas have not been able to locate Aster Solomon Gesesse.

A 34-year-old Silver Spring woman who hasn't been seen by her family since Aug. 30 may be in Las Vegas, NV.

A spokesperson for Montgomery County Police told the Washington Examiner that they know Aster Solomon Gesesse, of the 800 block of Houston Avenue, is in the city even though officers in Vegas haven't located her.

Gesesse was last seen leaving her home in a taxi, but family didn't know where she was going and expressed concern for her emotional well-being, police reported earlier this month.

Police want to make sure that Gesesse is in Las Vegas of her own volition, a spokesperson for the department told the newspaper.

"A lot of times when people do go missing, family members have a belief about why," Rebecca Innocenti said. "Without speaking to her, we are basing our search on information from her friends and family."

Gesesse is described as a black woman, about 5-feet-5-inches tall and weighing about 130 pounds. Her family says she has long, brown hair and brown eyes. They don't know what she was wearing when she left her home.

Police are asking anyone who encounters Gesesse to call them immediately. If you have information on the case call the non-emergency police line at 301-279-8000.
