No Injuries Reported In Barron Street Fire Thursday

Firefighters are still trying to determine the origin of the fire and cause.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue battled a blaze in an apartment complex Thursday morning on Barron Street in Silver Spring.

According to fire officials, they were called to the scene of 8708 Barron Street at 6:40 a.m. and noticed heavy smoke and fire coming from a 4th floor garden apartment.

At the time, firefighters believed there were occupants inside the apartment, officials reported, and that building and adjacent buildings were evacuated.

The fire was controlled in 15 minutes and no civilian or firefighter injuries were reported.

Firefighters remained on scene for much of the morning trying to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
