Improperly discarded smoking materials caused a hotel fire in Silver Spring.

Improperly discarded smoking materials caused a fire in the roof of a Silver Spring Days Inn on Monday night, according to the Twitter feed of the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.

The fire began around 7:30 p.m., WUSA 9 reported, at the Days Inn at 8040 13th St. By about 8 p.m., the fire was out. There were no injuries, MCFRS' Twitter feed reported.
