Update: Overnight Car Crash in Silver Spring Proves Fatal

Police: The driver lost control on a curve and the car struck a brick wall and tree.

A man has died and another was seriously injured after a car struck a brick wall and a tree shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday in Silver Spring, Montgomery County police said.

Both victims were taken to a hospital. The driver, Aaron Jerel Williams, 26, of the 1500 block of Kanawha Street in Hyattsville, succumbed to his injuries early Thursday, according to a police news release.

Jose Adolfo Alvarado Castillo, 31, of the 1800 block of Elton Road in Adelphi, was the passenger, police said.

The men were traveling eastbound on University Boulevard West in a gray 2009 Honda Civic when, for unknown reasons, the car lost control while going around a curve just past Dennis Avenue, police said.

The car went off the right side of the road, struck a tree and a brick wall, and came to rest in the parking lot of 401 University Boulevard West, police said.
