Park Police Increases Patrols After Assault in Sligo Creek Park

Park Police is still searching for a man who assaulted a female jogger on Friday.

The Maryland-National Capital Park Police, Montgomery County Division, is increasing its presence in the area around Sligo Creek Park near Woodman Avenue after .

“We’ve increased patrols in that area on foot, horse, motorcycle and bicycle,” said Lt. Lauryn McNeill.

The Park Police has listed trail safety tips on its website to help people stay safe while in the parks.

  • Never walk alone.
  • Let someone know where you are going.
  • Carry a whistle or noisemaker.
  • Avoid areas where visibility is poor.

Lieutenant McNeill says the department is also urging anyone who may know anything about the suspect to contact officials with that information.

“If anyone has any information, that would be fantastic, because we want to know who this was and be able to address it,” McNeill said.

The suspect is described as 6 feet tall, possibly of Indian descent, with black curly hair, in his early 20s. He was last seen wearing black athletic pants and a green shirt. Anyone with information on this incident can call 301-949-3010.
