Police Charge Two Men for Multiple Counts of Attempted Murder and Assault

Two Silver Spring men were arrested and charged with stabbing two residents.

Montgomery County Police are investigating an aggravated assault on Sunday that led to the arrest of two Silver Spring men, police said.  

Investigators responded to a report on the 8600 block of Flower Avenue around 5:35 p.m. in the afternoon. Officers were told that one victim was walking near the Universal Mart when they were approached by three men, according to a release. 

It was during this time two of the men pulled out knives and attempted to stab the victim. Another citizen intervened, and was stabbed three times. The second victim who was stabbed told officers he recognized the three men from earlier in the day and they harassed and threatened him.

Officers searched the area and arrested and ultimately charged two of the men with assault.

The first defendant, James Edward Tomaski, 20, from the 8600 block of Flower Avenue, was charged with attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.

Tomaski is being held on $750,000 bond. 

The second defendant, Chama Chisata, 20, also of the 8600 block of Flower Avenue, was charged with conspiracy to commit second-degree murder, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, second-degree assault and conspiracy to commit second-degree assault.

Chisata posted $200,000 bond.

The third defendant is a juvenile whose identity will not be released at this time.
