Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes in Week of March 20 to March 29

In this week's crime summary residential and commercial burglaries along with robberies in Silver Spring kept Montgomery County Police officers busy.

This week in the Montgomery County Police major crimes for the week summary in Silver Spring, commercial and residential burglaries along with, car thefts and robberies dominate the report. Crimes reported for the week of March 20 to March 29 are as follows: 

  • Georgia Avenue and Silver Spring Avenue: An aggravated assault occurred in the area on Saturday, March 26 at 4:16 p.m. A homeless male was assaulted with a piece of wood by a known suspect. Patrol responded and arrested the suspect without incident.
  • Lenox Beer & Wine located on 1400 East West Highway: A commercial burglary occurred at this store on Monday, March 28 at 3:52 a.m. There was a forced entry and property was taken.  
  • 2400 Dexter Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Wednesday, March 23 between 12:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.  There was forced entry and property was taken.
  • University Boulevard and September Lane: An armed robbery occurred in the area on Tuesday, March 29 at 10:30 p.m.  he masked suspects approached the adult male victim and asked for money. When the victim refused, one suspect displayed a gun. The suspects then searched the victim’s pockets and took personal property before fleeing on foot.
  • 8500 Garland Avenue: An armed robbery/assault occurred in this area on Sunday, March 27 at 4:00 p.m. The victim, a Papa Johns deliveryman, met the suspects in a hallway. When he attempted to collect for the order, one suspect displayed a gun, and a second displayed a knife. They assaulted the victim.  The suspects took personal property before fleeing on foot.
  • 900 Heron Drive: A residential burglary occurred on Friday, March 25 between 9:00 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. in this area.  There was a forced entry and property taken.
  • 800 Buckingham Drive: A residential burglary occurred on Thursday, March 24 between 6:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in this area. There was a forced entry and property taken.
  • 8800 Piney Branch Road: Two residential burglaries occurred on Friday, March 25 between 8:30 a.m. and 10:26 p.m. in this area. In the first incident, entry was forced and property was taken. In the second incident, entry was unforced, and property was also taken.
  • Eastern Middle School located at 300 University Boulevard E.: A robbery occurred at this location on Friday, March 25 at 10:02 a.m. The suspect was known to the victim.
