Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of Sept. 5 to Sept. 13

In this week's crime summary, residential burglaries along with car thefts in Silver Spring kept Montgomery County Police officers busy.

This week in the Montgomery County Police major crimes for the week summary in Silver Spring, residential burglaries along with car thefts dominate the report. Crimes reported for the week of Sept. 5 to Sept. 13 are as follows:

  • 1100 East West Highway: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Friday, Sept. 9, at 3:45 p.m. There was a forced entry and property was taken.
  • 1300 Fenwick Lane: A residential burglary occurred in this block between 2 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 5, and 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 8. There was an unknown means of entry and property was taken.
  • Woodland Drive and Highland Drive: An armed robbery occurred in this area on Friday, Sept. 9, at 11:45 p.m.  The suspects threatened the victims with a weapon and obtained property. 

Seven residential burglaries occurred in three separate sections of this Silver Spring beat:

  • 400 E. Franklin Avenue:  On Monday, Sept. 12, at 11 p.m.  there was an attempted forced entry and no entry gained in this block.
  • 1200 Burton Street: On this block between Friday, Sept. 9, at 8 a.m. and Monday, Sept. 12, at 8 p.m. there was a forced entry and nothing was taken.
  • 1300 Woodside Parkway: On this block between Saturday, Sept. 10 and Monday, Sept. 12, there was a forced entry and property was taken.
  • 900 Lowander Lane: In this block on Friday, Sept. 9, between noon and 2 p.m. there was an unknown means of entry and property was removed.
  • 10000 Brunswick Avenue: In this block on Tuesday, Sept. 6, between 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. there was an unknown means of entry and property was removed.
  • 2300 Coleridge Drive: In this block on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 1:13 p.m. there was a forced entry and it was unknown whether anything was taken.
  • 9500 McAlpine Road: In this block on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 6:43 p.m. there was an unknown means of entry and it was unknown whether anything was taken.
  • 8600 Piney Branch Road: An armed robbery occurred in a parking lot in this area on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 5:30 a.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property.
  • 900 Patton Drive: A residential burglary occurred in this area on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 9:10 p.m. There was an attempted forced entry, but no entry was gained.
  • 800 Forston Road: A residential burglary occurred between Thursday, Sept. 8, at 10 p.m. and Friday, Sept. 9, at 8:05 a.m. in this area. There was an unknown means of entry, but property was removed.
  • 8500 Bradford Road: A residential burglary occurred in this area on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 5 p.m. There was an unknown entry, but nothing was taken.

Multiple streets and eight cars were targeted for theft. They were the following: Greenbrier Drive (two incidents), Woodland Drive, North Mansion Drive, Highland Drive, Normandy Drive, Granville Drive, and Lawson Place.

  • Multiple thefts from vehicles occurred between Tuesday, Sept. 7, and Monday, Sept. 12, in this Silver Spring beat. The cars appeared to be left unlocked and were broken into during the late evening to early morning hours. Cash, a GPS system and a laptop were stolen.
