Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of April 11 to April 19

Robberies and residential burglaries were a major part of police duty.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area armed robbery and residential burglaries dominate the report. The crime report for the week of March 28 to April 6 is as follows: 

  • In downtown Silver Spring the crime activity varied in the Patch crime summaries map.
  • 8000 Georgia Avenue: A strong-arm robbery occurred on Sunday, April 17 at 9:30 p.m. in an alley. Three suspects approached and surrounded two juvenile male victims. Suspect #1 asked the victims what was in their pockets, and then he searched them. After taking their cell phones, the suspects fled towards the D.C. line.
  • Eastern Avenue and Blair Mill Road: An armed robbery occurred on Sunday, April 17 at between 3:45 a.m. and 4:15 a.m. The victim was assaulted and had property taken.
  • 8500 16th Street: An armed robbery occurred on Tuesday, April 19 in the Silver Spring between 5:20 a.m. and 5:25 a.m. The suspects displayed a weapon, but did not obtain property.
  • 8000 13 Street: A residential burglary occurred on Sunday, April 17 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The front door had signs that it was pried open; nothing appeared to be missing.
  • 9200 Long Branch Parkway: A residential burglary occurred on Thursday, April 14 at 9:42 p.m. There was a forced entry and nothing taken.
  • 9300 Sudbury Road: A residential burglary occurred on Friday, April 15 at 12:01 a.m. There was a forced entry and nothing taken.
  • 8900 First Avenue: A residential burglary occurred between Saturday, April 16 at 8:30 p.m. and Sunday, April 17 at 1:30 a.m.There wasn’t a forced entry and property taken.
  • 8700 Golbert Place: A strong-arm robbery occurred on Tuesday, April 12 at 1:45 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property.
