Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of Aug. 1 to Aug. 9

Sexual assaults and residential burglaries were a major part of police duty.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area sexual offenses and residential burglaries dominate the report. The crime report for the week of Aug. 1 to Aug. 9 is as follows: 

  • Willow Street Yoga, 8561 Fenton Street: An attempted  commercial burglary occurred at this business between 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3 and 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4.  
  • Macaroni Grill, 915 Ellsworth Drive: A sexual offense occurred in front of this business on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 2:00 p.m. There was an an indecent exposure. a 61 year-old man was arrested.
  • 7 Eleven, 8101 Fenton Street: A sexual offense occurred at this location on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 9:00 a.m. The victim was touched inappropriately. 
  • Giant Food, 1200 East West Highway: A sexual offense occurred at this location on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 10:00 a.m. The victim was touched inappropriately. 
  • 9900 Blundon Drive: A robbery occurred in a parking lot in this block on Saturday, Aug. 6 at 8:43 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property.
  • 9800 Forest Glen Road: An attempted strong-arm robbery/assault occurred in this block on Wednesday, Aug. 3 at 5:00 p.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and attempted to remove property. A 44 year-old Silver Spring man was arrested.
  • 100 Schuyler Road: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Friday, Aug. 5 between 11:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m.  There was an unforced entry and property was removed.
  • 8600 Piney Branch Road: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Tuesday, Aug. 2 at 12:30 p.m.  There was an unknown means of entry and nothing was taken.
