Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of Aug. 15 to Aug. 23

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the Silver Spring area residential burglaries dominate the report. The crime report for the week of Aug. 15 to Aug. 23 is as follows: 

• Piney Branch Road and Dale Drive: An armed robbery occurred in this area of on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 11:45 p.m. The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property.

• 8100 Schrider Street: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Friday, Aug. 19 at 1:44 p.m. There was an unknown means of entry and unknown if anything was taken.

• 600 Silver Spring Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Thursday, Aug. 18 between 7:50 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. There was an unknown means of entry, but property was taken.

• 700 Sligo Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 10:04 a.m. There was an unknown means of entry and nothing was obtained.

• The El Aguila Restaurant, 8649 16th Street: An armed robbery occurred at this restaurant on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 11:10 p.m. The suspects threatened employees with a weapon and obtained property.

• 9200 Second Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 7:40 p.m. There was an unknown means of entry and unknown if anything was taken.

• 1900 Glen Ross Road: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Friday, Aug. 21 between 7:40 p.m. and 9:40 p.m. There was a forced entry, but nothing was taken.

• Piney Branch Road/Garland Avenue corridor of Silver Spring: Three robberies occurred between 9:26 p.m. and 9:52 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19. In all of the incidents, the suspects approached victims, threatened them with a weapon and obtained property.

• 600 University Boulevard East: An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred in this block on Wednesday, Aug. 17 at 1:10 a.m. The suspect attempted to obtain property but was unsuccessful.  

• The Flower Deli, 8707 Flower Avenue: A robbery/assault occurred on Sunday, Aug. 21 at 10:35 p.m. The suspects threatened the victims with a weapon and obtained property. 

• 8600 Piney Branch Road: An aggravated assault occurred in this block on Saturday, Aug. 20 at 1:40 p.m. The suspect is known to the victim.
