Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of Feb. 21 to Mar. 1

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area, robberies and residential burglaries dominate the report. The crime report for the week of Feb. 14-Feb. 22 is as follows: 

• In downtown Silver Spring the crime activity varied in the Patch crime summaries map.

• 8400 Colesville Road: An armed robbery occurred in this block on Sunday, Feb. 27 at 11:35 p.m. The suspect approached the adult male victim and displayed a gun. The suspect fled on foot after taking the victim’s property.  

• 600 Ritchie Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this block between 8:50 p.m. and 9:50 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 25. There was an unknown type of entry and property was taken.

• Tmobile located on 8804 Colesville Road: A commercial burglary occurred here on between 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27 and 6:50 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 28. There was a forced entry and property was taken.

• 9600 Lorain Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Friday, Feb. 25 between 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry and nothing was taken. 

• 500 Mansfield Road: A residential burglary occurred on this block on Friday, Feb. 25 between 8:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. There wasn’t a forced entry and property was taken.

• Quebec Terrace and Quebec Street: An attempted armed robbery/ assault occurred in this area on Sunday Feb. 27 at 1:00 a.m. The 16-year-old male victim was assaulted by one of the suspects after he refused to give up his money. A fight ensued. The victim was able to flee the scene on foot. 

• 800 Heron Drive: A residential burglary/vehicle theft occurred in this block on Thursday, Feb. 24 between 6:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. There was an unknown type entry and property was taken including the victim’s vehicle.

• 9000 Piney Branch Road: A residential burglary occurred on this block Friday, Feb. 25 between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in, Silver Spring. There was a forced entry and nothing was taken. 

• 1500 Hampshire West Court: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Thursday, Feb. 24 between 7:45 a.m. and 6:50 p.m. There was forced entry and property was taken.

• 8600 Piney Branch Road:  A residential burglary occurred in this block on Thursday, Feb. 24 between 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.  There was a forced entry and property was taken.
