Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of Jan. 31 to Feb. 8

Residential and robberies were a major part of police duty.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area, robberies and residential burglaries dominate the report. The crime report for the week of Jan. 31- Feb. 8 is as follows:

  • 1200 Fidler Lane: An attempted armed robbery occurred in this block on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 6:45 p.m. The suspects, armed with guns, walked towards the adult male victim. The victim fled the scene on foot.
  • 1500 W. Falkland Lane: An aggravated assault occurred in this block on Thursday, Feb. 3 at 1:30 a.m.  The adult male victim was approached by an unknown suspect and struck in the face with a rock. The suspect then fled on foot.
  • 8561 Fenton Street: An attempted commercial burglary occurred at the Willow Street Yoga Center in Takoma Park between 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 6 and 8:45 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 7.  There was an attempted forced entry but no entry was gained.
  • 8700 Second Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Jan. 31 between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in this block. There wasn’t a  forced entry and property was taken.
  • 9000 Bradford Road: A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 8 between 7:45 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. in this block. There was a forced entry and property was taken.
  • 1000 Quebec Terrace: A homicide occurred in this block on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 11:58 pm. The adult male suspect called police and confessed to killing his wife. He was arrested.
  • Piney Branch Road and Flower Avenue: An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred in this area on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 4:26 p.m. The suspect approached the adult male victim and attempted to take personal property. The victim fought back and the suspect fled on foot.
  • 650 University Boulevard: An aggravated assault occurred in the parking lot of the 7-11 in this block on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 4:46 p.m.  The suspect approached the adult male victim, knocked him to the ground, and stabbed him.  The suspect was arrested.
  • 9300 Piney Branch Road: An aggravated assault occurred in this block in Takoma Park on Monday, Jan. 31 at 11:40 p.m. The adult male victim was struck in the head by his girlfriend during a domestic dispute.  The suspect was arrested.
  • 8900 Whitney Street: A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 1 between 1:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. in this block. There wasn’t a forced entry and property was taken.
  • 9000 Piney Branch Road: A residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, Feb. 2 between 9:20 a.m. and 3:58 p.m. in this block of Takoma Park. There was a forced entry and property was taken.
  • 1200 Prospect Street: A residential burglary occurred on Thursday, Feb. 3 between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. in this block. There was a forced entry and property was take.
