Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of July 18 to July 26

Residential and commercial burglaries were a major part of police duty.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area residential and commercial burglaries dominate the report. The crime report for the week of July 18 to July 26 is as follows: 

  • 500 Thayer Avenue: An aggravated assault occurred in this block on Saturday, July 23 at 10:15 p.m. An adult male advised that he was assaulted by a known suspect.
  • 500 Thayer Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this block Thursday, July 21 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The entry was unknown entry and property was taken.
  • 7800 Georgia Avenue: An aggravated assault occurred in this block on Sunday, July 24 at 2:50 a.m. The adult male victim was assaulted by the suspects, who then fled.
  • 600 Silver Spring Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Friday, July 22 between 12:00 p.m. and 5:25 p.m. There was a forced entry and it's unknown what was taken.

  • 600 Silver Spring Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Thursday, July 21 between 9:00 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. There wasn't a forced entry, but property was taken.

  • 8200 Cedar Street: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Tuesday, July 19 between 8:30 a.m. and 2:09 p.m. There was a forced entry, but nothing was taken.

  • Prudential Insurance, 8484 Georgia Avenue: A commercial burglary occurred in this block between 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 23 and 8:58 a.m. on Monday, July 25. There was a Forced entry and property was taken.

  • 8800 Colesville Road: A residential burglary occurred on Friday, July 22 between 7:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. There wasn't a forced entry, but property was taken.

  • 100 Croyden Court: An aggravated assault occurred in this block on Saturday, July 23 at 9:18 p.m. The suspect is known to the victim.
  • 8800 Colesville Road: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Friday, July 22 between 7:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. There wasn't a  forced entry, but property was taken.

  • 2100 Walsh View Terrace: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Wednesday, July 20 at 6:20 p.m. The means of entry was unknown means of entry and it was also unknown if anything was taken.

  • Mason, Goozh & Goldberg, 1107 Spring Street: A commercial burglary occurred between 8:10 p.m. on Monday, July 18 and 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19. The entry is unknown entry and property was taken.

  • Piney Branch Road and Garland Avenue: A robbery occurred in this area on Sunday, July 24 at 10:00 p.m. A victim was assaulted by suspects who attempted to remove his property.
