Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of July 25 to August 2

Commercial and residential burglaries were a major part of police duty.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area residential and commercial burglaries dominate the report. The crime report for the week of July 25 to August 2 is as follows: 

  • TD Bank located on 8661 Colesville Road: A bank robbery occurred in this area on Monday, August 1 at 6:33 p.m. The suspect announced the robbery, obtained cash, then fled.
  • 600 Deerfield Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, July 27 between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in this area. There was a forced entry and property taken.

  • 1100 East West Highway: A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, July 26 between 8:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. in this area. There was a forced entry and property taken. 
  • Ottawa Place and Highland Avenue: An aggravated assault occurred in this area on Friday, July 29 at 11:42 p.m. Two victims were assaulted by the suspects who then fled. 
  • Unit block of Midhurst Road: An attempted residential burglary occurred in this area on Wednesday, July 27 at 9:20 p.m. There was an attempted forced entry, but entry was not gained.

  • Unit block of Devon Road: A residential burglary occurred in this area on Wednesday, July 27 between 8:45 a.m. and 5:04 p.m. There was an unforced entry and property taken. 
  • 8500 Piney Branch Road: An armed robbery occurred in this area on Friday, July 29 at 12:50 a.m. The suspects threatened the victims with a weapon, obtained property then fled.
  • 8600 Bradford Road: A residential burglary occurred in this area between 8:00 p.m. and 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, July 30. There was an unforced entry and property was taken.
  • 1500 Dilston Road: A residential burglary occurred on Monday, July 25 between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. in this area.  There was an uncertain means of entry and property was taken.
