Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of June 13 to June 21

Vehicle thefts and robberies were a major part of police duty.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area robberies, residential burglaries vehicle thefts dominate the report. The crime report for the week of June 13 to June 21 is as follows: 

  • 7980 Georgia Avenue: A strong-arm robbery occurred in front of the 7-11 on Saturday, June 18 at 12:08 a.m.The suspect was assaulted and had property taken.

 

  • 800 Easley Street: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Tuesday, June 21 between 6:20 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. There was an unknown means of entry and property was removed.

  • 9900 Blundon Drive: A residential burglary occurred in this block between 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18 and 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 20. There was a forced entry and was property removed.

 

  • 9100 Georgia Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, 6/15 between 4:30 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. in this block. There was an unforced entry and property was removed.

  • Eight vehicle thefts on Whitaker Terrace, Granville Drive, Tilton Drive, Brightleaf Court, Thornhill Road and Franklin Avenue: Thefts occurred between Monday, June 13 and Sunday, June 19. In seven of the incidents, the vehicles doors were left unlocked. A cell phone, computer, cash, GPS systems, tools, DVD’s, wallets and clothing were taken.

 

  • 8800 Piney Branch Road: A strong arm robbery/assault occurred in a parking lot in this area on Thursday, June 16 at 1:00 p.m. The suspect assaulted and removed property from the victim.

 

  • 900 Newhall Street: An aggravated assault occurred in this block on Saturday, June 18 at 2:51 a.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and was arrested.

     

  • 8600 Flower Avenue: An indecent exposure incident occurred in this block on Monday, June 20 at 2:30 p.m. The suspect exposed himself and fled.
