Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of June 27 to July 5

Residential and commercial burglaries were a major part of police duty.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area robberies and residential burglaries dominate the report. The crime report for the week of June 27 to July 5 is as follows: 

  • 8040 13th Street: A commercial robbery occurred at the Subway Restaurant on Saturday, July 2 at 5:30 p.m. The suspect displayed a weapon and obtained property before fleeing. (video available)
  • Front of the Silver Spring Metro station: An aggravated assault occurred on Saturday, July 2 at 12:16 a.m. The suspect assaulted the victim. 
  • 800 Easley Street: A residential burglary occurred in this block between 12:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4 and 12:32 a.m. On Tuesday, July 5 there was a forced entry and property was removed.
  • 800 Thayer Avenue: On Monday, July 4 at 8:35 p.m. a residential burglary occurred in this block. There was an unknown means of entry and unknown whether anything was removed.
  • 600 Sligo Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this block between 5:00 a.m. and 10:06 p.m. on Saturday, July 2. There was an unknown means of entry and property was removed.
  • 500 Thayer Avenue: On Saturday, July 2 at 2:00 a.m. a residential burglary occurred. There was an unforced entry and property was taken. 
  • 8000 Blair Mill Road: A residential burglary occurred between 11:45 p.m. on Thursday, June 30 and 6:30 a.m. on Friday, July 1. There was an unknown means of entry and property was removed.
  • 900 Wayne Avenue: A residential burglary occurred between 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29 and 1:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 30. There wasn't a forced entry and property was taken.
  • Computer Repair Store located on 911 Silver Spring Avenue: A commercial burglary occurred in this block on Wednesday, June 29 at 6:31 a.m. There was an unknown means of entry and it was unknown whether anything was taken.
  • Manchester Road and Schuyler Road: A robbery occurred near  the Silver Spring Metro at the intersection on Monday, June 27 at 12:30 a.m. The suspects produced a weapon and obtained property.
  • 8600 16th Street: A robbery/assault occurred on this block on Monday, June 4 at 1:25 p.m. The suspects produced a weapon and obtained property.
  • 8800 Colesville Road: On Saturday, July 2 between 1:40 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. there was a residential burglary on this block. There was an unknown means of entry and property was removed.
  • 700 Malibu Drive: On Thursday, June 30 at 6:20 a.m. there was a residential burglary. There was an unknown means of entry and unknown whether anything was taken.
  • 8700 Carroll Avenue: A robbery occurred in this block on Wednesday, June 29 at 12:20 p.m. The suspects displayed a weapon and obtained property.
  • 9300 Piney Branch Road: An aggravated assault occurred in this block on Saturday, July 2 at 11:38 p.m. An adult male was assaulted. 
  • 8600 Piney Branch Road: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Thursday, June 30 at 1:56 p.m. There was an unknown means of entry and it was unknown whether anything was taken.
