Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of March 14 to March 22

Residential burglaries and aggravated assaults were a major part of police duty in downtown Silver Spring.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area, residential burglaries and aggravated assaults dominate the report. The crime report for the week of March 14 - March 22 is as follows: 

  • In downtown Silver Spring the crime activity varied in the Patch crime summaries map.
  • Georgia Avenue and Blair Mill Road: An armed robbery/assault occurred in this area on Tuesday, March 22 at 10:30 p.m. The suspects, armed with a knife and gun, approached the adult male victim and demanded for cash.  They struck the victim and took personal property before fleeing on foot.
  • 7900 Georgia Avenue: An aggravated assault occurred in this block on Saturday, March 19 at 7:48 p.m. The victim was threatened with a knife during an argument by a male family member.  The suspect fled the scene on foot.  
  • 9900 Colesville Road: An aggravated assault occurred in this block on Wednesday, March 16 at 9:16 p.m. The suspect’s vehicle struck the victim’s vehicle, whereupon the suspect exited his vehicle and threatened the victim with a knife.  The suspect returned to his vehicle and fled the area.
  • 100 E. Melbourne Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Tuesday, March 15 at 2:00 p.m. There wasn’t a forced entry but property was taken. Three 13 year-old women were arrested.
  • 2300 Evans Drive: A residential burglary occurred on Friday, March 18 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. in this block of Silver Spring. There was a forced entry and property taken.  
  • 2100 Bonnywood Lane: A residential burglary occurred between 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17 and 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 20 in the, Silver Spring. There was an unforced entry and property was taken.
