Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of May 23 to May 31

Residential burglaries, a rape and sexual assault were a part of police duty.

In the Montgomery County Police major crimes weekly summary for the downtown Silver Spring area robberies and residential burglaries dominate the report. The crime report for the week of May 23 to May 31  is as follows: 

  • In downtown Silver Spring the crime activity varied in the Patch crime summaries map. Scroll your mouse over the bubble to read the crime.
  • 700 Sligo Avenue: A strong-arm robbery occurred in this block on Monday, May 30 at 2:01 a.m. The victim was approached by two armed suspects, assaulted, and had property taken.
  • 7 Eleven located at 8455 Colesville Road: An aggravated assault occurred at this store on Thursday, May 26 at 5:05 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property.
  • 8700 First Avenue: A rape occurred in this block on Sunday, May 29 at 2:00 a.m. The suspect is known to the victim. Police arrested the male suspect.
  • 8800 Colesville Road: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Sunday, May 29 at 10:58 p.m. There was an unknown means of entry and it was unknown if anything was taken.
  • 8800 Colesville Road: A residential burglary occurred in this block between 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 28 and 10:30 a.m. on Sunday May 29. There was an unforced entry and property taken.
  • 9600 Evergreen Street: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Monday, May 30 between 3:00 p.m. and 10:44 p.m.  Theere was an unforced entry and property taken.
  • 9800 Georgia Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Tuesday, May 31 between 7:45 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. There was a forced entry and property was taken.
  • 8500 Springvale Road: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Tuesday, May 31 between 4:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. There was an unforced entry and was property taken.
  • 600 Ellsworth Drive: A sexual assault occurred in this block on Tuesday, May 24 at 8:30 p.m. The suspect inappropriately touched the female victim.
  • 900 Langley Drive: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Sunday, May 29 between 12:05 a.m. and 12:17 a.m.  There was a forced entry and property was taken. 
  • 900 Langley Drive: A residential burglary occurred in this block between 10:00 p.m. on Friday, May 27 and 10:00 p.m. on Monday, May 30. There was a forced entry and property was taken.
  • Multiple thefts from vehicles: During the Silver Spring beat during the late evening to early morning hours from Monday, May 23 to Tuesday, May 24. Ten vehicles were broken into including eight in the Georgia Avenue corridor. All of the vehicles were unlocked and coins, iPods, tools and credit cards were taken. Streets affected included 2nd Avenue, Lansdowne, Way, Normandy Drive, Kohler Court, Salisbury Road, Warren Street and Forest Glen Road.
