Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of Oct. 17 to Oct. 25

In this week's crime summary, commercial burglaries and robberies kept officials busy.

This week in the Montgomery County Police major crimes summary for the area near downtown Silver Spring, the incidents reported from Oct. 17 to Oct. 25 are as follows:

  • 500 Thayer Avenue: There was an attempted robbery/assault in this block of Silver Spring on Friday, Oct. 21 at 10:49 p.m. A victim was assaulted and nothing was taken. 
  • Violet Place and Chicago Avenue: An armed robbery occurred in this area on Monday, Oct. 17 at 1:45 a.m. Property was taken. 
  • 16th Street and Spring Street: An aggravated assault occurred in this area on Sunday, Oct. 23 at 5:30 a.m. Two victims were threatened by a suspect with a weapon after a minor vehicle accident.
  • 8001 Kennett Street: A commercial burglary occurred at this building on Friday, Oct. 21 at 11:25 a.m. Construction material was taken.
  • Georgian Towers Apartments, 8750 Georgia Avenue: A commercial burglary occurred at this rental office between 8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21 and 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 22. There was an unknown entry and property was removed.
  • Hunan City, 9429 Georgia Avenue: A robbery occurred at this location on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 11:05 p.m. A victim was threatened by a suspect with a gun and property was taken. 
  • 9300 Flower Avenue: An aggravated assault occurred in this block on Monday, Oct. 17 at 4:45 p.m. 

Residential burglaries occurred in the following blocks: 

  • 2500 Seminary Road: On Monday, Oct. 24 between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Property was taken and there was a forced entry.
  • 1900 Luzerne Avenue: On Thursday, Oct. 20 between 8:15 a.m. and 7 p.m.  Property was taken and there was a forced entry.
  • 1800 Belvedere Boulevard: On Monday, Oct. 17 between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. Property was taken and there was a forced entry.
