Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes the Week of Sept. 26 to Oct. 5

In this week's crime summary, residential burglaries kept Montgomery County Police officers busy.

This week in the Montgomery County Police major crimes for the week summary in Silver Spring, residential burglaries dominate the report. Crimes reported for the week of Sept. 26 to Oct. 5 near the downtown area are as follows:

  • 7817 Eastern Avenue: A commercial burglary occurred at the State Line Market in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 1:40 a.m. There was a forced entry and was property taken.
  • 1100 Bonifant Street: A sexual offense occurred on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 8:59 p.m. An adult male was arrested by patrol after they observed him masturbating in a garage stairwell.
  • 9400 Saybrook Avenue: An attempted sex assault/aggravated assault occurred on Sunday, Oct. 2, at 6:30 p.m. The adult female was assaulted by the suspect who attempted a sex offense, then fled.
  • 2300 Eccleston Street: A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Oct. 3, between 7:50 a.m. and 7:13 p.m. There was a forced entry but nothing was taken.
  • 10000 Mckenney Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Oct. 3, between 1:30 p.m. and 3:44 p.m. Forced entry; property taken.
  • 500 Granville Avenue: A residential burglary occurred on Saturday, Oct. 1, at 12:00 p.m. There was an attempted forced entry and nothing was taken.
  • 9900 Moss Avenue: A residential burglary occurred between 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 27, and 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28. There was an unforced entry and property was removed.
  • 9300 Piney Branch Road: An armed robbery occurred in this area on Tuesday, Oct. 4, at 7:54 p.m. The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property.
  • 8600 Piney Branch Road: An armed robbery occurred on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 11:16 p.m. The suspect followed the victim, produced a weapon and obtained property.
