Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes Week of Aug. 22 - 30

Robberies and numerous thefts from vehicles reported.

Robberies dominate the Montgomery County Police weekly major crimes summary for the Silver Spring area. Several thefts from vehicles were also listed. Crimes reported for the week of Aug. 22 to Aug. 30 are as follows:

Robberies:

  • 9000 block of Bradford Road: An attempted robbery took place on Monday, Aug. 29 at 4:43 p.m. The suspects attempted to obtain property, but were unsuccessful. Suspects: Two Hispanic males, 12-14 years old; one was carrying a back pack.
  • 8600 block of Piney Branch Road: An armed robbery occurred on Sunday, August 28 at 10:38 a.m. Two suspects displayed a weapon and obtained property. Suspects: Two Hispanic males, 20 years of age; one armed with a knife.
  • Manchester Road and Wayne Avenue area: A robbery took place occurred on Friday, August 26 at 5:19 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property. Suspects: three Black males, 16-19 years old, 5’11” to 6’2”, 160-170 lbs. Vehicle: Honda, black.

Thefts:

  • 1400 block of Woodman Avenue: A residence was burglarized on Friday, August 26, 11:55 a.m. (no further information available).
  • Inwood Avenue, Leighton Place, Sudbury Road, Ellsworth Drive, Lillian Drive and Caroline Avenue (2 incidents): A total of seven thefts from vehicles took place between Monday, August 22 and Sunday, August 28. Most incidents happened during the late evening to early morning hours, including four that occurred in close proximity between Wednesday, August 24 and Thursday, August 25. In all cases the suspects entered via unlocked vehicle doors or by “unknown means." Cash, electronic equipment, tires, a computer and car stereo were taken.
