Police: Briggs Chaney Homicide Victim Involved In Robbery Before Death

Montgomery County police detectives are asking for help identifying who else may have been involved in the robbery.

Montgomery County police may have a major lead in the homicide case of Christopher White, a 22-year-old Landover man who was found dead outside of an apartment in the Briggs Chaney neighborhood of Silver Spring last December.

Surveillance video from a gas station may show that White was involved in a robbery earlier on Dec. 10, 2012, the day he died, police said in a statement Thursday.

Police believe White was one of three people—a woman and two men—who robbed two men at a Sunoco gas station in Lanham at 1:57 a.m. that morning. The surveillance video shows the group of robbers getting out of a Scion and approaching the men's Camaro. The victims were forced out of the car and made to lay down on the ground before their property was stolen, police said. A third man, who did not exit the Scion, drove the three robbers away.

The video was released Thursday in hopes that someone will help to identify the two additional robbery suspects and locating the Scion, which police say was stolen on Nov. 26, 2012.

White was found on a paved path behind an apartment in the 13900 block of Castle Boulevard around 9:56 p.m. Dec. 10. Officers responded to the area with reports of the sound of shots fired.
