Police Call Special Meeting After Two Silver Spring Homicides

A police lieutenant will speak to residents about the investigations.

Two men found dead in Silver Spring, possibly from gunshot wounds, in just four days prompted a special meeting with Montgomery County Police's 3rd District leader.

Last Friday, 21-year-old Jesse Campos was shot dead in his White Oak apartment. Police said an investigation revealed that two suspects tried to get into the residence by forcing a roommate to open the door. After the suspects gained entry, they shot Campos and fled the scene, police said, leaving the male roommate and another adult female uninjured inside.

Officers responded to Castle Boulevard in the Briggs Chaney neighborhood late Monday night with reports of shots fired. An unidentified male was found dead on a paved path behind an apartment with trauma to his body. Detectives are investigating the death as a homicide.

Lt. Michael Price, acting commander of the district that polices the Route 29 corridor from downtown Silver Spring to Burtonsville, will meet with residents to discuss the ongoing investigations Thursday, Dec. 13 at the White Oak Community Recreation Center at 7 p.m.

Detectives are asking anyone with information regarding these crimes to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or leave a Crime Solvers tip here. Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.
