Police Continue Investigation into Fatal Silver Spring Car Accident

Montgomery County Police ask that anyone with information call 301-840-2435.

The Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is investigating an early morning collision in the 600 block of University Boulevard East that claimed the lives of two women.

About 3:09 a.m. Thursday, third district officers and fire/rescue personnel responded to a single-vehicle collision, according to an official release.

An initial police investigation describes a black 2003 Nissan Murano traveling eastbound on University Boulevard approaching Langley Drive. For reasons still under investigation, the car left the roadway and drove into the front yard of 611 University Boulevard East, police said.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 22-year-old Jenice Richards from the 6800 block of Highview Terrace in Hyattsville. The rear seat passenger has been identified as 19-year-old Tamara Nicole Johnson from the 7300 block of Riggs Road in Hyattsville.  

They both died from their injuries at the scene, according to police.

A third passenger sitting in the front seat is identified as 18-year-old Desaleen Rayna James from the 8200 block of New Hampshire Avenue in Silver Spring. She is still being treated at a local hospital.

Montgomery County Police investigators are asking anyone who witnessed this fatal collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 301-840-2435. Callers may remain anonymous.
