Police Investigate Suspicious Death in Silver Spring Apartment Building

Police arrived at the apartment building in the 9700 block of Mount Pisgah Road shortly after 8 a.m. Friday.

Update (Friday, June 28, 4 p.m.): Police are investigating the death of a woman found in a Silver Spring apartment in the 9700 block of Mount Pisgah Road on Friday as a homicide, according to a police statement

A man suspected in her death was taken into police custody on Friday. Police said the victim and suspect knew each other, according to the statement.

"As it is early in the investigation, the nature of the relationship between the suspect and victim cannot be confirmed. It cannot be confirmed if either the suspect or victim lived at the residence," the report stated.

Police found the victim in the Mount Pisgah Road apartment shortly after 8 a.m. Friday. One of the victim's co-workers called the police because the victim had not shown up for work recently, police said.

A property manager of the apartment helped police officers get into the apartment, where police found both the victim and the suspect, according to the police statement.

Original post (Friday, June 28, 11 a.m.): Police are investigating a suspicious death in a Silver Spring apartment building, Montgomery County Police Department Officer Janelle Smith, a police spokesperson, said.

Police arrived at the apartment building in the 9700 block of Mount Pisgah Road after receiving a call shortly after 8 a.m. Friday, Smith said.

Police "do not believe that it's a stranger-based event," Smith added. No other details were available as of 10:30 a.m. Friday.

The investigation is on-going.
