Police Report Silver Spring Man Home and Safe

Alvaro Carreto was last seen at his Piney Branch home five days ago.

Update, Sept. 21: Alvaro Carreto was located in Virginia safe and unharmed, according to a police media release.

Montgomery County Police gave special thanks to listservs, the media and the community for helping to being awareness to his disappearance.

Orginal post, Sept. 20, 9:59 a.m.: Montgomery County detectives are asking the public for their help to locate Alvaro Carreto, 25, who was last seen Sept. 15.

After Carreto went missing from his home on the 8600 block of Piney Branch Road, his cousin tried to call his cellphone on the same evening but was unsuccessful.

Carreto is described as a Hispanic man, 5-feet and 6-inches tall and weighing 170 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt, and he may be driving a light green Toyota Tercel with unknown tags in the area of Leesburg, VA.

According to an official release, Carreto’s family and police are concerned for his welfare as it is unlike him to not have contact with his family.  

Anyone with any information regarding Carreto’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police at 301-279-8000.
