Police Use Cell Phone to Track Down Robbery Suspect

The armed robbery suspect is currently being detained in Stafford, Va., on unrelated charges.

Montgomery County Police (MCP) charged a Washington, DC man in connection with two robberies in the parking lot of fast food chain KFC in Silver Spring.

Detectives caught up with 22 year-old Deandra Nelson after a search warrant was obtained for his cell phone. Police officials circulated cell phone pictures throughout the community and a Metropolitan Police Officer identified Nelson.

MCP officials responded to two armed robberies in March at 9:30 a.m. at the same fast food chain located at 7720 Blair Road. During both incidents an employee exiting the business and headed to their vehicle was approached and threatened with a hand gun, according to police.
