Report: Silver Spring Woman Escaped Mall Attack in Kenya

The woman reportedly hid in a stairwell with two people who were injured.

A Silver Spring woman was among those who escaped an attack by gunmen at a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya, where dozens were killed, according to news reports.

Sara Head of Silver Spring, who works in public health at Fairfax-based ICF International, survived by hiding from Somali terrorists who seized the mall Saturday, she told Canada's CBC.

"There were two people with me in the stairwell who had superficial wounds from gunshots and we were eventually able to leave after about an hour and a half thorough a supermarket," she told the CBC.
