Updated: Metro Bus Engine Fire Delays Morning Traffic

No injuries were reported during this morning's incident.

Downtown Silver Spring drivers encountered smoky roads at about 9:23 a.m. during their morning drive, after a bus engine caught on fire in the 9600 block of Colesville Road, said Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Capt. Oscar Garcia.

"The fire took about 10 minutes to put out," Garcia said.

Passengers on the Metro commuter three-stop bus had to change to another bus after problems developed with the engine, said John Wesley a Metro Transit Spokesman.
