Robber Threatens With Explosive Device at Bank of America: Police

A bank robber showed employees a potentially explosive device as he demanded money at the Bank of America, 10151 Colesville Road in Silver Spring.

The Montgomery County Police Department is investigating the robbery that occurred at 2:52 p.m. Tuesday. A man walked into the bank, gave bank tellers a note and displayed an unknown type of potentially-explosive device.

Police say the suspect was given an undisclosed amount of cash and then fled on foot in an unknown direction. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black man, 5’10” to 6′ tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and an olive-green-colored baseball cap.

According to police, there is no video of the suspect to release at this time. Anyone with information about this bank robbery is asked to call the Police Department’s robbery section at 240.773.5100.
