Silver Spring Crime: Assault at Holy Cross Hospital

Crimes in Silver Spring included in the county police department's most recent crime summary.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between Sept. 23 and Oct. 1. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Assaults:

  • An aggravated assault occurred in the lobby of Holy Cross Hospital—at 1500 Forest Glen Rd., Silver Spring—on Monday, Oct. 1, at 10:20 p.m. The suspect is known to the victim. A 27-year-old man from Hyattsville was arrested.
  • An attempted sexual assault and robbery occurred in the 700 block of Seek Lane in Silver Spring on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 10:54 p.m. The suspects unsuccessfully attempted to sexually assault the victim, then fled with the victim’s property.
  • An aggravated assault occurred on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the 600 block of University Boulevard in Silver Spring. The suspect is known to the victim.
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 13900 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim with a weapon.  

Armed robberies:

  • An armed robbery occurred in the 2800 block of Calverton Boulevard in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 10:59 p.m. The suspects threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. A 19-year-old man from Washington, DC, a 20-year-old man from Burtonsville and a 21-year-old man of unknown address were arrested. 
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 14200 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 8:45 p.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and obtained property.
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 3300 block of Randolph Road in Silver Spring on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 12:59 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victims and obtained property. 
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 12100 block of Atherton Drive in Silver Spring on Sunday, Sept. 29, at 6:27 p.m. The suspect is known to the victim. 
  • An armed robbery occurred in the McDonald's restaurant at 12313 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 4:48 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property. 

Robberies:

  • A robbery occurred in the 300 block of University Boulevard East in Silver Spring on Tuesday, Oct. 1, at 7:42 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property. Victim chased suspects and regained the property. An 18-year-old man from Wheaton, a 15-year-old man from Silver Spring and a 16-year-old man from Silver Spring were arrested.

Commercial burglaries:

  • A commercial burglary occurred at a construction site located at 11700 Cherry Hill Rd., Silver Spring, between 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, and 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26. There was a forced entry, and it is unknown what was taken. 

Residential burglaries:

  • A residential burglary occurred in the 8500 block of Sundale Drive in Silver Spring on Friday, Sept. 27, between 5:30 and 8:40 p.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 800 block of Gist Avenue in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Sept. 25, between 2:20 and 4 p.m. There was an attempted forced entry, but nothing was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Sept. 23, between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring. The means of entry is unknown, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred between noon on Thursday, Sept. 26, and 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, in the 12600 block of Eldrid Court in Silver Spring. There was no forced entry, and property was taken from the garage.
  • A residential burglary occurred between 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, and 7:16 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27, in the 2900 block of Red Lion Lane in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry into a shed, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Friday, Sept. 27, between 1 a.m. and 9:44 p.m. in the 2900 block of Red Lion Lane in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and it is unknown what was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Saturday, Sept. 28, at 4 a.m. in the 12700 block of Bexley Terrace in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, Sept. 24, between 2:45 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. in the 3800 block of Cullingworth Road in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred between 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, in the 13700 block of Colgate Way in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred between 4:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, in the 13700 block of Colgate Way in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 1:40 p.m. in the 13700 block of Colgate Way in Silver Spring. There was an unknown entry, and it is unknown what was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Thursday, Sept. 26, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the 3700 block of Lamberton Square Road in Silver Spring. There was no forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 14600 block of Tynewick Terrace in Silver Spring on Friday, Sept. 27, between 1 and 3 p.m. The means of entry is unknown, and nothing was taken.
  • An attempt residential burglary occurred in the 3000 block of Kramer Street in Silver Spring on Thursday, Sept. 26, at 2:07 a.m. There was an attempted entry, and nothing was taken. 
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 10700 block of Douglas Avenue in Silver Spring on Monday, Sept. 23, at 3:20 p.m. The suspect is known to the victim.  

Indecent exposure:

  • An indecent exposure occurred in the 3900 block of Weller Road in Silver Spring on Friday, Sept. 27, at 6 a.m. The suspect was looking into windows, police reported.
