Silver Spring Crime: Burglaries at Pet Shop, Indian Restaurant, Chinese Carryout

Crimes in Silver Spring included in the county police department's most recent crime summary.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between Oct. 28 and Nov. 6. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Assaults:

  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 1700 block of Forest Glen Road in Silver Spring on Thursday, Oct. 31, just before 1 a.m. The suspect is known to the victim. 
  • An aggravated assault occurred outside El Golfo restaurant (8739 Flower Ave., Silver Spring) on Sunday, Nov. 3, just before 2 a.m. The suspects assaulted each other after a dispute. 
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 8500 block of Flower Avenue in Silver Spring on Monday, Nov. 4. The suspect is known to the victim. A 54-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested.
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 2200 block of Glenallen Avenue in Silver Spring on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 2:29 p.m. The suspect is known to the victim. A 15-year-old juvenile female from Silver Spring was arrested.
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 12200 block of Berry Street in Silver Spring on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 12:30 a.m. The suspect is known to the victim. A 33-year-old man from Silver Spring was arrested.
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 11700 block of Hatcher Place in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Oct. 30. The suspect is known to the victim.
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 4300 block of Mahan Road in Silver Spring on Saturday, Oct. 26. The suspect is known to the victim. A 31-year-old man from Silver Spring was arrested.

Armed robberies:

  • A strong-arm robbery occurred at 16th Street and Spring Street in Silver Spring on Friday, Nov. 1, around 2 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property. 
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred in the area of Greenwood Avenue and Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring on Saturday, Nov. 2, just before 1 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property. 
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 2300 block of Broadbirch Drive in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Oct. 30, around 7:30 p.m. The suspects forcefully removed property from the victim, then fled. A 22-year-old man from Silver Spring was arrested.
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred at Barbara Road and Havard Street in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 3:34 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property.
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred at Livingston Street and Weisman Road in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 10:58 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim, then fled. 

Commercial burglaries:

  • A commercial robbery occurred at Club Wags (9330 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring) on Sunday, Nov. 3, around 1 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. 
  • A commercial burglary occurred in the equipment room at the Tanglewood Apartments (9004 Manchester Rd., Silver Spring) between Friday, Nov. 1, and Monday, Nov. 4. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A commercial burglary occurred at the Jewel of India Restaurant (10151 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring) on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at around 5:15 a.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A commercial burglary occurred at the Golden China Carryout (12719 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring) on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 5:36 a.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 

Residential burglaries:

  • A residential burglary occurred in the 1500 block of East-West Highway in Silver Spring on Thursday, Oct. 31, between 5 a.m. and 6 p.m. The means of entry is unknown. Property was taken from a screened-in porch. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 1400 block of Blair Mill Road in Silver Spring on Tuesday, Nov. 5, between 12:30 p.m. and 1:45 p.m. There was no forced entry, but property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 9400 block of Russell Road in Silver Spring on Monday, Oct. 28, between 8:15 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. There was a forced entry, but nothing was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 8000 block of Glenside Drive in Silver Spring on Monday, Nov. 4, between 8:30 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Oct. 28, between 8 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. in the 10500 block of Royal Road in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Nov. 4, between 8 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. in the 10700 block of Meadowhill Road in Silver Spring. There was no forced entry, and it is unknown if anything was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Nov. 4, between 11 and 11:30 a.m. in the 9900 block of Dilston Road in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, Oct. 30, between 9:30 a.m. and 9:40 p.m. in the 1200 block of Forest Glen Road in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred between Friday, Nov. 1, and Saturday, Nov. 2, between 3 and 3:30 p.m. in the 800 block of Forest Glen Road in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Thursday, Oct. 31, between 2:45 and 3 a.m. in the 12700 block of Summerwood Drive in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Saturday, Nov. 2, between 9:30 and 11:30 p.m. in the 12500 block of Summerwood Drive in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred between Friday, Nov. 1, at 5 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 2, at 6:45 a.m., in the 11400 block of December Way in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 29, between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. in the 11300 block of Columbia Pike in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Nov. 4, between 8 a.m. and 8:07 p.m. in the 12300 block of Herrington Manor Drive in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, but nothing was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Oct. 28, between 7:15 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. in the 4200 block of Crosswood Drive in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 29, between 9:30 a.m. and 6:11 p.m. in the 3300 block of Parkford Manor Terrace in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Friday, Nov. 1, between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 3:08 a.m. in the 14000 block of Castle Ridge Way in Silver Spring. There was no forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Sunday, Nov. 3, at 11:21 p.m. in the 3200 block of Tapestry Circle in Silver Spring. The suspect is known to the victim. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Monday, Nov. 3, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the 3400 block of Castle Way in Silver Spring. There was no forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 3900 block of Greencastle Ridge Terrace in Silver Spring on Tuesday, Nov. 5, at 1:56 p.m. An 18-year-old man from Towson and a 33-year-old man from Silver Spring were arrested.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 2300 block of Seibel Drive in Silver Spring on Thursday, Oct. 31, at 3 p.m. The suspect is known to the victim. A 17-year-old male juvenile from Silver Spring was arrested.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 11700 block of Stonington Place in Silver Spring on Friday, Nov. 1, between 9:35 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 1500 block of Vivian Place in Silver Spring on Friday, Oct. 25, between 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. There was no forced entry, and property was taken. 

Thefts from vehicles:

  • A theft from a vehicle occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 29, around 3 a.m. Property was taken from a vehicle on Oldham Road in Silver Spring. An 18-year-old man from Silver Spring was arrested.

Indecent exposure:

  • An indecent exposure occurred in the apartment house computer room of 1203 Fidler Ln., Silver Spring, between Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 11:45 p.m., and Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 12:15 a.m. A 28-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested.
