Silver Spring Crime: Robberies, Burglaries, Assaults

These Silver Spring crime incidents taking place between June 10 and 18 were included in the county police department's most recent crime summary.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between June 10 and 18. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

  • An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred in the 1500 block of North Falkland Lane, Silver Spring, on Monday, June 17, at 12:57 a.m.
  • Two commercial burglaries occurred in the 800 block of Silver Spring Avenue, Silver Spring, on Saturday, June 15, at 12:27 p.m. No further information was available as of the publication of the police summary on Thursday, June 27.
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 1000 block of Spring Street, Silver Spring, on Friday, June 14, at 9 p.m. The suspects are known to the victim.
  • An armed robbery occurred at the 7-Eleven store at 8472 Piney Branch Rd., Silver Spring, on Monday, June 10, at 3:17 a.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property from the victim.
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring, on Friday, June 14, at 3:02 p.m. No further information was available as of the time of the publication of the police summary on Thursday, June 27.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 9200 block of Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring, on Saturday, June 15, at midnight. There was an unknown entry, and property was taken.
  • A robbery occurred near the intersection of Lanark Way and Dallas Avenue, Silver Spring, on Wednesday, June 12, at 4:51 p.m. No further information was available as of the time of the publication of the police summary on Thursday, June 27.
  • A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, June 11, at 3:45 p.m. in the 12900 block of Autumn Drive, Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and nothing was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, June 12, between 10 and 10:20 a.m. in the 11500 block of Michale Court, Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred on Friday, June 14, between 7 and 10 p.m. in the 11400 block of Columbia Pike, Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 1100 block of Tiffany Road, Silver Spring, on Sunday, June 16, at 8:51 p.m. No further information was available as of the time of the publication of the police summary on Thursday, June 27.
  • An attempted commercial burglary occurred at the Green Apple (12830 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring) on Tuesday, June 11, at 1:45 a.m. There was an attempted forced entry into the store, but nothing was taken.
  • Eleven thefts from vehicles occurred between Monday, June 10, and Sunday, June 16. These incidents occurred mainly between the late evening and early morning hours, with entry into the vehicles being gained in seven of the incidents through unlocked doors, and by broken windows in the other four incidents. Property taken included cash, GPS systems, computers and jewelry. Affected streets included: Kerwood Court (four incidents), Blue Valley Drive (two incidents), Tanley Road, Broadmore Road, Old Columbia Pike, Industrial Parkway and Deer Park Drive, Silver Spring.
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 14200 block of Castle Boulevard, Silver Spring, on Friday, June 14, at 11:04 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon, and obtained property from the victim. 
  • A commercial burglary occurred at Fehr's Nursery (4340 Sandy Spring Rd., Silver Spring) between 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 16. There was a forced entry, and nothing was taken.
  • An assault occurred in the 16300 block of New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, on Sunday, June 16, at 10 p.m. The suspect is known to the victim.
  • An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred at the intersection of Beaverwood Drive and Birchtree Lane, Aspen Hill, on Monday, June 17, at 5:26 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and attempted to remove property from the victim. A 16-year-old juvenile male from Silver Spring was arrested in connection with this incident, according to the police summary.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 13100 block of Ewood Lane, Silver Spring, on Monday, June 17, at 3:42 a.m. There was an unknown entry, and nothing was taken. A 27-year-old man from Damascus was arrested in connection with this incident, according to the police summary.
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 3500 block of Pear Tree Court, Silver Spring, on Tuesday, June 11, between 7 a.m. and 5:45 p.m. There was an attempted forced entry, and nothing was taken. 
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 12000 block of Remington Drive, Silver Spring, on Wednesday, June 12, at 9:30 a.m. There was an attempted forced entry, and nothing was taken.
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred outside El Puente de Oro (a restaurant at 11123 Veirs Mill Rd., Silver Spring) on Sunday, June 16, at 2:31 a.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and obtained property from the victim. A 20-year-old man from Wheaton was arrested in connection with this incident, according to the police summary.
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 3100 block of McMahon Road, Silver Spring, on Thursday, June 13, at 2 p.m. The suspect forcefully removed property from the victim. 
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 2100 block of Bucknell Drive, Silver Spring, on Wednesday, June 12, at 2:28 p.m. A 19-year-old man from Beltsville was arrested in connection with this incident, according to the police summary.
  • A burglary occurred at Einstein High School (11135 Newport Mill Rd., Kensington) on Saturday, June 15, at 12:10 a.m. There was a forced entry, but nothing was taken. A 15-year-old juvenile male from Kensington and a 14-year-old juvenile male from Silver Spring were arrested in connection with this incident, according to the police summary.
