Silver Spring Crime: Armed Robbery at the Wireless Store

Crimes in Silver Spring included in the county police department's most recent crime summary.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between Dec. 9 and 17. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Assaults:

  • A sexual assault occurred in the 8300 block of Garland Avenue in Silver Spring on Friday, Dec. 13, at 10:30 p.m. 
  • An aggravated assault occurred on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 11:56 a.m. in the 8700 block of Carroll Avenue in Silver Spring. The suspect is known to the victim. 
  • An aggravated assault occurred on Sunday, Dec. 15, at 3:38 a.m. in the 8700 block of Gilbert Place in Silver Spring. The suspect is known to the victim. A 44-year-old man from Silver Spring was arrested.
  • An aggravated assault occurred on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 1:48 a.m. in the 14000 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. The suspect is known to the victim. 

Armed robberies:

  • An armed robbery occurred at Spring Street and Roeder Road in Silver Spring on Sunday, Dec. 15, midnight. The suspects threatened the victims with a weapon and obtained property.
  • An armed robbery occurred at the Golgule Wireless store (8203 Fenton St., Silver Spring) on Tuesday, Dec. 17, at 6:20 p.m. The suspects threatened the victims with weapons and obtained property. 
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 9:26 p.m. in the 800 block of Wayne Avenue in Silver Spring. Property was taken from the victim, after which the suspect fled. 
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 8:50 p.m. The suspects threatened the victims with a weapon and obtained property. 
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred at Avenel Road and Northampton Drive in Silver Spring on Monday, Dec. 9, at 3:20 a.m. The suspects forcefully removed property from the victim. 
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 4:10 p.m. in the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. The suspects forcefully removed property from the victim. Three Silver Spring boys—ages 13, 14 and 15—were arrested.
  • An armed robbery occurred on Monday, Dec. 16, at 12:45 p.m. in the 3400 block of Robey Terrace in Silver Spring. The suspects threatened the victims with a weapon and obtained property. 

Robberies:

  • A robbery occurred in the 1900 block of Rosemary Hills Drive in Silver Spring on Monday, Dec. 16, at about 7 p.m. The suspects forcefully removed property from the victim, then fled.

Commercial burglaries:

  • A commercial burglary occurred at the Lee Building (8601 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring) on Thursday, Dec. 12, between 9:38 and 9:48 a.m. No forced entry; nothing taken. A 33-year-old woman from Rockville was arrested. 

Residential burglaries:

  • A residential burglary occurred on Friday, Dec. 13, between 10 a.m. and 12:50 p.m. in the 8500 block of Flower Avenue in Silver Spring. No forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Friday, Dec. 13, between 9 a.m. and 3:15 p.m. in the 8700 block of Carroll Avenue in Silver Spring. No forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 500 block of Southampton Drive in Silver Spring on Thursday, Dec. 12, between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. No forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 10800 block of Meadowhill Road in Silver Spring on Monday, Dec. 16, between 8:20 a.m. and 5 p.m. Forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 1500 block of December Drive in Silver Spring on Thursday, Dec. 12, between 3:30 p.m. and 7:50 p.m. Forced entry; property taken. 
  • An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 1500 block of December Drive in Silver Spring on Friday, Dec. 13, at 5:56 p.m. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, Dec. 11, at 4:11 p.m. in the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. Unknown entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 4800 block of Sandy Spring Road in Silver Spring between Saturday, Dec. 14, and Monday, Dec. 16. Forced entry; property taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 3400 block of Robey Terrace in Silver Spring on Tuesday, Dec. 17, between 10:50 a.m. and 4 p.m. Unknown entry; property taken. 

Thefts from vehicles:

  • Five thefts from vehicles occurred on Easley Street, Dale Drive, East-West Highway, Houston Street and Cedar Street in Silver Spring. Vehicles were left unlocked, and assorted items left inside were taken. Two men—a 20-year-old from Gaithersburg and a 21-year-old from Washington, DC—were arrested.
  • An attempted theft from a vehicle occurred on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 4:08 p.m. in the 3100 block of Beethoven Way in Silver Spring. A vehicle was left unlocked and was searched. 

Indecent exposure:

  • An indecent exposure occurred at Ballinger Drive and Van Horn Way in Silver Spring at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16. The suspect exposed himself to the victim, who was able to flee.  

Other incidents:

  • A "peeping Tom" incident occurred on Monday, Dec. 16, at 11:07 p.m. in the 1000 block of Quebec Terrace in Silver Spring. The suspect was looking into windows.
