Silver Spring Crime: Robbery at Gas Station, Burglary at Medicine Shoppe
Crimes in Silver Spring included in the county police department's most recent crime summary.
The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between Nov. 25 and Dec. 3. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.
Assaults:
- An aggravated assault occurred in the 900 block of Ellsworth Drive in Silver Spring on Thursday, Nov. 28, around 7 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim, then fled.
- An aggravated assault occurred in the 13800 block of Old Columbia Pike in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Nov. 27, around 11 p.m. The suspect is known to the victim. A 25-year-old man from Silver Spring was arrested.
Armed robberies:

- An attempted armed robbery occurred in the 500 block of Domer Avenue in Silver Spring on Saturday, Nov. 30, around 11:40 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and unsuccessfully attempted to obtain property.
- An armed robbery occurred in the unit block of Hunters Gate Court in Silver Spring on Saturday, Nov. 30, around 6:30 p.m. The suspects threatened the victims with a weapon and obtained property.
- An attempted armed robbery occurred at the Washingtonian Express Gas Station (14300 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring) on Friday, Nov. 29, at 7:24 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property.
- An armed robbery occurred in the 3600 block of Bel Pre Road in Silver Spring on Sunday, Dec. 1, at 6:45 a.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and obtained property.
Commercial burglaries:
- A commercial burglary occurred at the Medicine Shoppe (10313 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring) on Monday, Dec. 2.
- A commercial burglary occurred at the Verizon Wireless store (15610 Old Columbia Pike, Silver Spring) on Saturday, Nov. 30, at around 12:47 a.m. Forced entry; property taken.
Residential burglaries:

- An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 2500 block of Spencer Road in Silver Spring between Thursday, Nov. 28, and Saturday, Nov. 30. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.
- A residential burglary occurred in the 8700 block of Gilbert Place in Silver Spring on Monday, Dec. 2, between 5:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. No forced entry; property taken.
- A residential burglary occurred in the 500 block of Beacon Road in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Nov. 27, between 6:40 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. Forced entry; property taken.
- A residential burglary occurred in the 9900 block of Cottrell Terrace in Silver Spring on Tuesday, Dec. 3, between 3:30 and 3:45 p.m. Forced entry; nothing taken.
- An attempted residential burglary occurred in the 700 block Northwest Drive in Silver Spring on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Attempted forced entry; nothing taken.
- Two thefts from vehicles occurred on Northampton Drive and Hampshire West Court in Silver Spring. Entry was forced into both vehicles, and tools were taken.
- A residential burglary occurred in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring on Friday, Nov. 29, between 12:45 p.m. and midnight. Forced entry; property taken.
- A residential burglary occurred in the 13900 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring on Sunday, Dec. 1, between noon and 9 p.m. Forced entry; property taken.
- A residential burglary occurred in the 13100 block of Camellia Drive in Silver Spring on Saturday, Nov. 30, at 10:29 p.m. Forced entry; unknown what was taken.
- A residential burglary occurred in the 700 block of Orchard Way in Colesville on Tuesday, Nov. 26, between 9:35 and 10:45 a.m. Property was taken from an unlocked shed.
- A residential burglary occurred in the 900 block of Hoyt Street in Silver Spring on Friday, Nov. 29, around noon. No forced entry; property taken.
Thefts from vehicles:
- Eight thefts from vehicles occurred on Inwood Avenue, Imperial Drive and Forest Grove Drive in Silver Spring. All vehicles were left unlocked and loose change was primarily targeted.
- Seven thefts from vehicles occurred along the Castleleigh Road corridor in Silver Spring on Friday, Nov. 29, between 2 and 3 a.m. Vehicles were searched, but property was not taken.
