Silver Spring Man Charged with First Degree Murder

Detectives determined that robbery was the motive.

The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit charged two  suspects, Lorenzo Carlton, 21, and Michael Jordan, 18, in connection with the homicide of Alonzo James Guyton which occurred in Mount Rainier, Maryland.  

Additionally, homicide detectives determined that robbery was the motive in this case.

On Oct. 25, officers from the Mount Rainier Police Department responded to the 4200 block of Kaywood Drive for the report of a shooting about 12:02 a.m. When officers arrived ont the scene, arrival, Guyton was suffering from gunshot wounds to his body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. 

Throughout the police investigation, detectives found suspects Carlton, from the 4100 block of Isbell Street in Silver Spring and Jordan, from the 600 block of Ogelthorpe Street N.E. in Washington, D.C. 

After obtaining arrest warrants for the two suspects, police officials charged them with first degree murder.

Carlton is currently being held at the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections without bond. Jordan is currently incarcerated at the D.C. Jail on an unrelated charged with a pending extradition to Prince George’s County.
