Silver Spring Man Attacked After Throwing Objects at Window

The attackers have been charged.

Police arrested two Hyattsville men for assaulting and attempting to rob a Silver Spring man early Friday morning in the 8200 block of Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring, according to a statement from the county police department.
The two men—Carlos Bosque, 28, and Edgar Cruz, 27, both of different addresses on 14th Street in Hyattsville—were with the 27-year-old Silver Spring man shortly before the assault, police say.

A police officer saw the Silver Spring man—accompanied by Bosque and Cruz—throwing unidentified objects at an apartment window above the El Sitio Restaurant (8210 Piney Branch Rd., Silver Spring) at about 1:45 a.m. Friday, according to the police statement.

Then, the men began walking down Piney Branch Road. When they got to Dale Drive, Bosque and Cruz began to assault and attempt to rob the Silver Spring man, the police officer said.

As the officer approached the men, one of the Hyattsville men began running. After a short foot pursuit, he was taken into custody. The other Hyattsville man was taken into custody at the scene of the attempted robbery, according to the police department's statement.

Bosque and Cruz both were charged with attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, second-degree assault and conspiracy to commit second-degree assault. Bosque is being held on a $25,000 bond, and Cruz is being held on a $20,000 bond, the statement reported.
