Silver Spring Patch: Robbery at Montgomery College, Burglary at Dental Office

Crimes in Silver Spring included in the county police department's most recent crime summary.

The following information was supplied by the Montgomery County Police Department in its summary of major crimes occurring in the county between Oct. 7 and 15. The mention of an arrest or charge does not indicate a conviction.

Homicide:

Assaults:

  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 8600 block of 16th Street in Silver Spring on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at about 1:30 a.m. The suspect is known to the victim.
  • An aggravated assault occurred in the 2300 block of Evans Drive in Silver Spring on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 12:05 a.m.  

Armed robberies:

  • An armed robbery occurred in the 8000 block of Eastern Avenue in Silver Spring on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 11:05 p.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. 
  • A strong-armed robbery occurred at Montgomery College (7995 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring) on Monday, Oct. 14, at 7:15 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property. 
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 8800 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 12:29 a.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. 
  • An attempted strong-arm robbery occurred in the 600 block of Beacon Road in Silver Spring on Thursday, Oct. 10, at 11:13 p.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and unsuccessfully attempted to obtain property. 
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred in the 2100 block of Bel Pre Road in Silver Spring on Monday, Oct. 14 at 11:37 p.m. The suspect assaulted the victim and obtained property. 
  • An armed robbery occurred in the 3700 block of Carey Street in Silver Spring on Friday, Oct. 11 at 7:38 a.m. The suspect threatened the victim with a weapon and obtained property. a 23-year-old man from Silver Spring was arrested.
  • A strong-arm robbery occurred in the parking lot of the Exxon station at 11310 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 12:20 a.m. The suspects assaulted the victim and obtained property. 

Commercial burglaries:

  • A commercial burglary occurred at Smart Data Solutions (on Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring) between 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 11, and 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • An attempted commercial burglary occurred at Maryland Oral Surgery (1300 Spring St., Silver Spring) between 5:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, and 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13. There was an attempted forced entry, and nothing was taken.
  • A commercial burglary occurred in the 1700 block of University Boulevard West in Silver Spring on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 4:56 p.m. There was no forced entry, and nothing was taken. 

Residential burglaries:

  • A residential burglary occurred on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 4:25 a.m. in the 3500 block of Aston Manor Court in Silver Spring. There was no forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Wednesday, Oct. 9, between 7:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. in the 14600 block of Blackburn Road in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Thursday, Oct. 10, between 6:30 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. in the 14100 block of Angelton Terrace in Silver Spring. There was a forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred between 11 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 10, and 6 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. There was no forced entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred on Friday, Oct. 11, between midnight and 4 a.m. in the 14100 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring. There was no forced entry, and property was taken.
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 500 block of Grand Cypress Court in Silver Spring between Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 8 an 9. There was an unknown entry, and property was taken. 
  • A residential burglary occurred in the 3800 block of Brightview Street in Silver Spring on Tuesday, Oct. 8, at 6:32 p.m. The suspect is known to the victim.

Thefts from vehicles:

  • Six thefts from vehicles occurred between Sunday, Oct. 8, and Saturday, Oct. 12. Entry into the vehicles was forced in several incidents, and vehicle parts were taken in one incident. Other items taken included cell phones, books, jewelry, CDs and tools. Streets affected included Oakleaf Drive, Randolph Road, New Hampshire Avenue and Palermo Drive in Silver Spring.
