Victim Identified in Fatal Vehicle Collision on 16th Street

Montgomery County police officials are investigating the cause of the single-vehicle collision.

Montgomery County police officials have identified the driver—of Friday night's car crash on the 8600 block of 16th Street in Silver Spring—as Michael Patrick Considine. The  29-year-old Washington D.C. man collided with a fire hydrant to avoid hitting a Ride On bus picking up a passenger, police said.

A preliminary investigation by Montgomery County Police officials revealed that Considine  left the right side of the roadway and not only struck the hydrant but a street sign and the street curb before the car overturned before coming to rest in an embankment on the side of the road.

He died at the scene, police said.
