Wheaton Man Arrested for Rape, Released, Arrested Again

Police: The man assaulted three women in his home in the Leesborough development.

A Wheaton man awaiting trial for rape and sex offense charges was arrested again this week and charged with second-degree rape, Montgomery County police said in a news release.

Police arrested Ramon Vasquez, 35, of the 2000 block of Little Sorrel Way in Wheaton, after a 30-year-old woman called police May 18 and said she had been sexually assaulted by Vasquez.

Vasquez is being held without bond.

According to police, on May 17, Vasquez asked the woman to come to his home. Such a visit was not uncommon as the two had been friends for several years. Once there, she drank soda out of a cup provided by Vasquez and took two Ambien pills provided by Vasquez, police said. The two went to sleep in Vasquez’ bedroom. The next morning, she awoke to discover Vasquez on top of her and both her and Vasquez’ clothes removed, police said.

Based on the May incident and another incident last year, detectives believe there may be additional victims of sexual assault by Vasquez who have not contacted police. Detectives are urging anyone who believes that they have been a victim to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.

On Nov. 17, a 24-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman told police they had been raped and sexually assaulted. The women had accompanied Vasquez to his home where all three went to sleep, police said. One of the women awoke to find Vasquez touching her inappropriately, police said.

The first woman attempted unsuccessfully to awaken the second woman and left the room. The second woman later awoke to find Vasquez sexually assaulting her, police said. Both women left the residence and contacted police.

Vasquez was charged earlier this year with one count of second-degree rape and one count of committing a third-degree sex offense. He was released on bond on Jan. 9.

The case is scheduled for trial Sept. 3 in Montgomery County Circuit Court in Rockville.
