Good morning, Silver Spring! Here are five things to know this Thursday to help you keep up-to-date about what’s going on in the community:

1. There is a chance of rain and cloudy skies today, with temperatures reaching near 50 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.

Tonight: Showers are expected later on this evening with temperatures rising to the mid 50s.

3. The Patch RV is coming to town to Patch you out! Join me and members of the Patch squad in downtown to get your free t-shirts, water bottle, tote bags (which we know you'll love) and much more. We will be downtown from about 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

4. The Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission meets today at 9 a.m. If you can't make the meeting, listen to it live from your desk.

5. County Executive Isiah Leggett (D) is seeking volunteers to apply for primary and alternate positions on the Property Tax Assessment Appeal Board. The deadline to apply is January 27.
