Baby CPR Course and Citizens Advisory Board Meeting

1. Join the Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board (SSCAB) on Monday, June 25. The committee members are joining one of two critical community dialogues going on at that time.

The Human Rights Commission is asking the community for input regarding the critical issue of immigration in the county. This agenda item will be part of their regularly scheduled meeting taking place in the . It starts at 7 p.m.

2. The Montgomery County Human Rights Commission will hold its regular meeting in the Silver Spring Civic Building Monday, June 25 at 7 p.m.

A portion of this meeting will be devoted to the critical issue of immigration. The Commission is seeking to “hear from advocates and service providers about key issues facing immigrants in Montgomery County.”  

They will host a forum on immigration in the fall.

In an effort to shape the forum in a manner that best meets the needs of the community, the commission is inviting community members, service providers, and others to “share your thoughts on the two to three top issues faced by immigrants in Montgomery County.

3. Babysitting and CPR classes from Silver Spring Fire Chief Roger A. McGary.

The Babysitters Class will be held Tuesday, July 10 from 6 to 10 p.m. in the lower level training room of Fire Station 16, located on 111 University Blvd. E.

The four-hour babysitter safety class covers safety in the home including fire prevention, stranger danger, scalds and burns, choking hazards, basic first aid, how to get help and other useful information.

Attendees also receive a small safety tools backpack. There is no charge but pre-registration is required. A companion CPR class will be held in two sessions, Thursday, July 19 and Tuesday, July 24. These sessions will also be held at Fire Station 16.
