Glynn Jackson’s Golden Scissors Awards “HaiRage 2011” Celebrates 20 Years

The road hasn't been easy but it's rewarding, Jackson said.

For over 20 years, Glynn Jackson’s “Golden Scissors Awards” has showcased aspiring hairstylists, barbers, and fashion designers who compete for the ultimate title.

This year, the Golden Scissors Awards “HaiRage 2011" celebrates its 20th year on Sunday, Dec. 11 at the Silver Spring Civic Building.

Fashion Impresario and Beauty Icon Glynn Jackson is spicing things up with three shows.“This year marks the 20th anniversary of my brainchild, The Golden Scissors Awards. It has grown and established itself as force to be reckoned in the hair and fashion industry,” Glynn Jackson, the creator and founder of the Golden Scissors Awards and the owner of Glynn Jackson the Agency, said.

The three shows include: the Vocational School competition at 2 p.m., the Salon Professional Showcase at 5 p.m., and the 20th Anniversary Gala at 8 p.m.Mississippi native artist Kolten Perine,18 , will perform the opening act for the second show. Perine grew up with a heavy influence from his church and was constantly around gospel music.

 His strong faith continues to guide him daily.Enkore, a Washington, DC-based dance company, will perform in all three shows.This dance company was founded by and is under the direction of Mr. Damarcko "Retro" Price. EnKore trains young dancers in different styles of dance including Hip-Hop, Ballet, Jazz, Modern/Contemporary, and Freestyle.
