Police Blotter: Summary of Crimes Week of Nov. 11 - 22

Residential burglaries were most reported.

Robberies dominate the Montgomery County Police weekly major crimes summary for the Silver Spring area. Crimes reported for the week of Nov. 11 to Nov. 22 are as follows:

  • Chipotle located on 507 Ellsworth Drive: An aggravated assault occurred inside of the business on Friday, Nov. 18 at 8:30 p.m. An adult man was assaulted.
  • Seminary Beer and Wine, 9458 Georgia Avenue: An attempted commercial burglary occurred at this business on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 1 a.m. There was an attempted forced entry, but nothing was taken.

Residential Burglaries:

  • 9700 block of Capitol View Avenue: On Tuesday, Nov. 22 between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and on Wednesday, Nov. 16 between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. In both incidents there was a forced entry and property was taken.
  • 800 block of Cody Drive: On Sunday, Nov. 20 between 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. In the attempted forced entry, nothing was taken.            
  • 10500 block of Brunswick Avenue: On Friday, Nov. 18 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. There was a forced entry and property was  taken.
  • 9600 block of Dallas Avenue: On Wednesday, Nov. 16 between 9 a.m. and 5:38 p.m. There was a forced entry and property was taken.
  • 600 block of Wayne Avenue: On Wednesday, Nov. 16 between 9 a.m. and 11:26 a.m. There was an unforced entry and property was taken.
  • 9000 block of First Avenue: On Tuesday, Nov. 15 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. There was an unforced entry and property was taken. 
  • 8800 block of Piney Branch Road: A residential burglary occurred in this area of Silver Spring on Wednesday, Nov. 16 between 12:39 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.  There were unknown means of entry and property was taken.
  • 8000 block of 13th Street: A residential burglary occurred in this block on Friday, Nov. 18 between 6:45 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. There were unknown means of entry and property was taken.
  • 500 block of Thayer Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this area on Monday, Nov. 21 between 7:52 p.m. and 8:26 p.m. There was a forced entry, but nothing was taken.
  • 700 block of Silver Spring Avenue: A residential burglary occurred in this area between 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 19 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 20. There was a forced entry and property was taken.
