Report: Organizations Begin Requesting Space in Old Library Building

Officials need to determine if any of the old library's spaces are needed for county agencies or capital improvement projects, The Gazette reported.

With the new Silver Spring Library slated to open next fall, organizations are starting to ask for space in the old library building, The Gazette reported.

Greg Ossont, deputy director of the Montgomery County Department of General Services, said at a Silver Spring Citizens Advisory Board meeting "that county agencies, nonprofit groups and other parties have shown interest in the [old library] building," which was built in 1957 and has about 16,000 square feet, The Gazette reported.

Officials need to determine if any of the old library's spaces are needed for county agencies or capital improvement projects, Ossont added, The Gazette reported.

The old library is located at 8901 Colesville Rd., Silver Spring.

The new library is being built at the corner of Fenton Street and Wayne Avenue, and will be about four times the size of the older building. Read the full story on The Gazette's website.
