Riderwood Residents Vote in Dual County Precincts

The dual county voting precincts have nearly 3,000 residents.

 

The Riderwood retirement community residents began voting early Tuesday for the primary election.

The dual county voting precincts located at 3140 Gracefield Road in Silver Spring have nearly 3,000 residents on the 120-acre community, with half in Montgomery County and the other half representing Prince George’s County.

This makes it a hotbed for politicians, especially during an election year. And it makes the April 3 Maryland primary election and the Nov. 6 general election intriguing, Riderwood spokesman Mel Tansill said.

Riderwood’s residents seem to relish politics, Tansill said.

Throughout the year residents run their own Democratic and Republican clubs, including a League of Women Voters group and a resident Voter Information Group that holds registration drives at appropriate intervals throughout the year.
