Thursday: White Oak Master Plan Public Hearing

The White Oak Science Gateway Master Plan area covers nearly 3,000 acres.

The White Oak Science Gateway Master Plan envisions the Food and Drug Administration headquarters attracting pharmaceuticals, science and technology companies to the area.

The plan also calls for mixed-use development and greater connectivity.

The Montgomery County Planning Board will hold a public hearing on a draft of this master plan on Thursday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m. at 8787 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.

The White Oak Science Gateway Master Plan area covers nearly 3,000 acres, according to the county. It is bounded by the Capital Beltway (I-495) on the south, Northwest Branch Stream Valley Park on the west, Route 29 and Cherry Hill Road on the north, and Prince George's County on the south.

The plan makes recommendations for land use and zoning within this area, as well as recommendations intended to improve overall circulation, pedestrian connections and historical preservation.
