Montgomery County Students to Compete In Vegas for Scholarships

The Montgomery County NAACP is saluting nine students for excellence in their high school studies.

The students will be celebrated at the ACT-SO Showcase at the Peace at the Valley Baptist Church Sunday, July 13, at the Silver Spring Civic Center. The accomplished national nominees include:

From Poolesville High School in Poolesville,
Sarah Fahey for Dance, Howard Nicholson III for Medicine & Health and Kameron J. Brown for Oratory;

From Montgomery Blair High School in Silver Spring,
Ingrid Ngaku for Biology and Ronnita Freeman in Vocal Contemporary;

From Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda,
Miranda Milo for Vocal Classical and Chizbam Nwagwu for Short Story;

From Watkins Mills High School in Gaithersberg,
Abiemwense Emokpae in Instrumental Contemporary;

From James H. Blake High School in Silver Spring,
Nathan Peoples in Poetry.

The students will advance to the national Afro-Academic Cultural Technological-Scientific Olympics competition in Las Vegas July 17 through 20 to compete for scholarship funding for college.
